On Wednesday, the signing ceremony of the Stigler George dam project in Tanzania will be held between Tanzanian President John Maguvely and Prime Minister Mustapha Medbouli on behalf of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi.
The signing ceremony will also include the presence of Mohamed Shaker, the Egyptian Minister of Electricity, along with the owner of the project, the Tanzanian Ministry of Energy, while the two companies, "Arab Contractors" and "Swedish Electric" will be the implementing agency.
The dam is located in the Stigler George area of Tanzania, where the dam is located in Morogoro on the Rufiji River.
The project will run for a period of 42 consecutive months, including 6 months to process the site.
The project aims at generating electricity capacity of 2115 MW to provide energy needs in Tanzania, as well as controlling water levels during flood periods and thus providing water needs for the state.
The dam project consists of the design and construction of hydroelectric dams, power plants with a length of 1025 meters and a height of 130 meters, in addition to the construction of 4 other dams to store water lengths of 1.4 km, 7.9 km, 4.6 km, 2.6 km. The total expected water supply will be 33 billion cubic meters.
The project will start in January next year and will open in 2022.
And cost $ 2.9 billion, while the number of employees to about 5 thousand people between engineers and workers.
On Friday evening, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received a telephone call from his Tanzanian counterpart, during which they reviewed the developments of the dam project.
