Egypt "vows" Apple .. and let it 60 days

The Egyptian authorities have issued a decision obliging Apple to cancel the restrictions imposed on the import of its products from distributors in other countries, promising to "pursue the company criminally if it does not comply with this request."

The decision said that the two companies would be "prosecuted" if they did not respond to the request of the Egyptian government within a period not exceeding 60 days.

"Apple and its distributors have violated the competition protection law because they have agreed to isolate the Egyptian market geographically from competition factors, ban parallel imports and make exclusive distribution agreements, in violation of Article 7," the Egyptian Competition Protection Authority said in a statement on Sunday. Of the Competition Protection Act ".

"This has led to an unjustified rise in the prices of Apple products in Egypt, surpassing the price of products in the Middle East, such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait, as well as the United States of America," he said.

"Through its marketing policy and its contracts, Apple has banned all forms of parallel imports and banned its overseas distributors from selling in Egypt," the statement quoted the chairman of the Competition Protection Authority Amir Nabil as saying.
